Factors That Affect The Cost
Of LASIK Eye Surgery
It is difficult to provide a cost range because no two patients are alike. One patient may suffer from severe astigmatism, for example, which makes the procedure more challenging.
During a consultation at one of our offices, we can provide a custom price breakdown. Some of the most common factors that determine the price of LASIK surgery include:
Degree of Refractive Error
A high degree of refractive error or extreme astigmatism can increase the cost of LASIK simply given the challenges involved. At HLV, we don’t charge extra for high prescriptions.
The LASIK Surgeon’s Experience
Reputable surgeons tend to charge more given their surgical expertise. Dr. Holzman has more than 30 years of experience, and has helped many high-profile clients experience clearer vision.
Technology at the Practice
When practices use the latest technology, prices may be higher. That said, the WaveLight® Excimer Laser, Contoura topography and wavefront 3D diagnostics make the LASIK procedure safer, which is why we use them.

LASIK Cost
Compared To Glasses And Contact Lenses
While LASIK’s price may seem high, it’s worth noting the cost of wearing prescription glasses and contact lenses can add up. These price comparisons are worth considering for potential LASIK candidates.
Savings on Glasses
Most people get new prescription glasses every other year, which can range from $200 to $600 per pair depending on the lens materials and frame designs. That’s thousands of dollars spent on new eyewear over the course of an entire lifetime.
Savings on Contacts
While the price of contact lenses may not seem like much, it adds up. On average, someone who wears contact lenses spends approximately $250 a year. In 20 years, that adds up to $5,000 for contacts, which is roughly the price of LASIK.
Savings on Cleaning Solution
The price of contact lenses isn’t just for the lenses themselves. You also need to worry about cleaning solution and carrying cases, which can prove a hassle. With LASIK, you won’t need to worry about buying or running out of cleaning solution.
Improved Quality of Life
If you suffer from nearsightedness or farsightedness, it’s important to consider the less tangible benefits as well. Imagine waking up with clear vision from the moment you open your eyes. We can educate you on our patients’ experiences.
High Rates Of Satisfaction For LASIK Eye Surgery
Studies have found that patients have very positive feelings about LASIK and its lasting benefits. That explains why hundreds of thousands of people undergo LASIK surgery every year.
Why LASIK Surgery Is Worth The Cost

Payment And Financing Options
For Laser Eye Surgery
Insurance Coverage
LASIK surgery is typically classified as an elective procedure and is usually not covered by insurance. Exceptions are rare and involve injuries or conditions that make it difficult to wear glasses or contacts. We can check with your insurance provider in these cases.
Payment Options
We accept cash, check, and all major credit cards. During the LASIK consultation, we can go over any concerns about pricing and payment in greater detail. We will be more than happy to offer insight into payment methods to make the price of LASIK more manageable.
Financing Plans
If the upfront price of LASIK is too high, we can suggest financing plans that make the procedure affordable. These plans divide the total cost of surgery into monthly installment payments. Financing helps countless people get the eye care they want and need.
