Sarah discusses the many LASIK benefits she is now experiencing. She says Dr. Holzman helped her feel comfortable during treatment, which took about 15 minutes total. She experienced an immediate improvement in her vision.
My name is Sarah. I got LASIK with TLC, and I was 31 years old when I got the procedure. It was a birthday gift from my dad for my 30th birthday and . . . I had a great life when I was young, but I was kind of burdened by these vision problems. I remember when I was little, my mom said that I was very reluctant to get on escalators at the mall, because I couldn’t see what was below me. And then, there’s this one video where we’re on my great grandfather’s farm, and my mom is telling me to look at the cat that’s right around the corner, and I keep looking for it everywhere, but I couldn’t see it because I have really poor vision. And then, shortly after that, I got glasses, and I had a pretty strong prescription, so the prescription really magnified my eyes. So I got contacts around the time that I was, I think, in sixth or seventh grade. So contacts really helped with being able to play sports, and also I think helped just with my self-confidence and self-esteem, but they didn’t always correct for my astigmatism. So I explored LASIK because I thought it would be a good option. I wouldn’t have to deal with my astigmatism problem any longer. So I shopped around at different LASIK offices, and I found that TLC was the best price and the best staff, the best care possible for me, and decided to go with TLC. The day of the surgery, I went in, and I was definitely nervous because it’s a surgical procedure, and it’s not something you do every day. But I was really confident in the TLC staff and in Dr. Holzman, so their experience and knowledge gave me a lot of confidence. And I calmed down in their chill-out room. I was still a little bit nervous though, and then when I went into the operating room, I was given a stuffed animal to hold. I spoke with Dr. Holzman, and he was very reassuring about the procedure. And Dr. Holzman just walked me through the entire procedure and kept talking to me and telling me to squeeze the stuffed animal if I felt uncomfortable, but I really didn’t because he was there for me the entire time, and everything went so smoothly, and it passed by so quickly too. I was there for 10 or 15 minutes. And then afterwards, I just sat up, and I could see, and I just started crying, because it was the first time in my life that I could see without contacts or glasses. And it was a really powerful thing for me, and I’m just really grateful. It’s the coolest thing ever. Thanks TLC, thanks Dr. Holzman, and thanks dad. It’s the best gift that I’ve ever gotten.
