Pre-operative Preparation Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C.
Description
Before the surgery there are some standard pre-operative preparation steps that must be taken, which are done throughout all Virginia, Maryland, and Washington D.C. Holzman Laser Vision locations. Dr. Andrew Holzman explains the antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops that need to be applied a day before the surgery.
DR. ANDREW HOLZMAN: Concerning pre-operative preparation for the surgery, there are two eye drops that are prescribed at the time of your pre-operative examination that the patient’s going to need to begin one day prior to the surgery. The first one is an antibiotic and the second one is an anti-inflammatory. The antibiotic is four times a day and they’ll use that the day before the surgery and for seven days after the surgery, and the anti-inflammatory drop is twice a day and they’ll use that the day before the surgery and for three days post-operatively as well. For patients who are over the age of 35 we use a special cream called Miro ointment which I prescribe one week prior to the surgery. That cream will go in the eyes right before bedtime for a week prior to the surgery and that works best for patients who are over the age of 35.
