This morning was our semi-annual resident training at Laser Eye Centers. After completing their classroom coursework, fourth year residents from Washington Hospital Center had the opportunity to learn surgical techniques using state of the art equipment at our Rockville location.
The residents began by training on the Intralase Pulsion-FS laser. As seen here, they were able to get hands on experience as they were instructed by our surgical trainer, Richard Beck. This was followed by a wetlab on the Visx S4 excimer laser.
These lasers are used in refractive surgery, (LASIK and PRK). These sessions give the residents invaluable experience that will prepare them to be able to provide their patients with a full range of ophthalmological care.
Once training is complete, these young surgeons will be performing their first cases under the proctoring Medical Director, Andrew Holzman, MD.
We are proud to be able to continue our affiliation with the Washington Hospital Center residency program and want to send a thank you to Alisa Kim, MD for helping to coordinate this mornings training.
