On Wednesday, October 3, 2012, Dr. Andrew Holzman gave a Grand Rounds presentation on Corneal Collagen Cross-Linking and other treatment options for Keratoconus to the residents in the UVA Ophthalmology program. In addition to the residents that attended the program, many of our local Charlottesville affiliates also attended.
Dr. Holzman is a visiting associate professor at UVA and frequently has residents come to our center to observe him in surgery. He definitely enjoyed taking a short break from LASIK procedures educate his fellow eye care providers on the exciting developments being made in the treatment of keratoconus.
Both Dr. Holzman and Dr. Jonathan Solomon are investigators for an FDA corneal cross-linking study. Corneal cross-linking looks to be a promising procedure for halting the progression of keratoconus.
