Dr. Andrew Holzman, is board certified Corneal specialist who is a leader in the field of laser vision correction and sees patients from his offices in Charlottesville and McLean, Virginia, and Rockville, Maryland. We have said this often, but when it comes to laser vision correction, there is no substitute for experience. Dr. Holzman believes in teaching patients as well as teaching residents and other ophthalmologists in the field of laser vision correction to master the surgical skill and to embrace the technology available to ensure that patients are getting the best visual outcome possible. In the words of the late Maya Angelou, “When you learn, Teach” Dr. Holzman teaches as he performs his refractive surgery procedures. Just this past week he proctored a resident on her first LASIK procedure. His belief in the LASIK and PRK procedure shows as he is always encouraging his clinical team and his colleagues to learn why we do what we do. He has seen the results in his patients and heard the life changing stories about how having the LASIK or PRK procedure has changed his patient’s lives for the better. Dr. Holzman gives of his time teaching Residents about specializing in the field of cornea and laser vision correction. He is a visiting Associate Professor of the Department of Ophthalmology at the University of Virginia Medical Center as well as an Assistant Professor of Clinical Ophthalmology at Georgetown University.
